NEW VENUE: LITTLE ROCK, ARKANSAS
On November 10, Ann makes her first ever Arkansas appearance at the Acoustic Sounds Cafe, a respected name in folk music concert halls around the country. Housed in the Second Presbyterian Church, 600 Pleasant Valley Rd., Little Rock, it draws the top names in American contemporary folk music, including acts whose songs Ann has recorded: Greg Brown ("Canned Goods," "Home in the Sky"), John Gorka ("Houses in the Fields"), and Cheryl Wheeler ("Quarter Moon"). Ann sings as the opening act for David Roth, a national songwriter with five albums and the endorsement of the author of Chicken Soup for the Soul. Ann's songs around the campfires of the Kerrville (TX) Folk Festival caught the ear of ASC's manager, Joe Henry, who invited her to bring her music to Little Rock. See the whole ASC schedule and other information at www.acousticsoundscafe.org.
ANN'S SONGS FEATURED IN
"EXPLORATION PLACE" EXHIBIT
Picture a tiny town the size of a room, and imagine being able to watch the life of the town progress through the seasons and through the years. This is reality at Wichita's new "Exploration Place" which opened to rave reviews this year at 300 N. McLean Blvd. The town is called "Kansas in Miniature," and its designers selected songs from Ann's album "Canned Goods" to accompany the changing seasons in the exhibit-including "Sea of Grass," "Canned Goods," and "Prayin' for Rain." If "Exploration Place" is not in your neighborhood, you can find it at www.exploration.org.
ANN PLAYS WICHITA
On November 12, Ann gives a rare public performance in Wichita, Kansas. Despite innumerable connections to Kansas's largest city, Ann has performed there for conferences and groups but only rarely in venues open to the public. With a Borders cafe concert that Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m., a new trend begins-the public is invited! She'll be on her way home from Little Rock, Arkansas.
